Volunteer Opportunities
Ralston House relies heavily on our dedicated and talented volunteers, who gave more than 3,500 hours of service last year. There are numerous areas to volunteer for Ralston House including special events and support advocates.
Advocates
Victim/Family Support Advocates: At Ralston House, we utilize volunteers for advocacy. Advocates are primarily responsible for working with children and their guardians on crisis intervention, resources, and referrals. The process to become an advocate is a lengthy process due to the highly confidential nature of the work we do. It requires filling out a 9-page personal history questionnaire, an interview, a background check, reference checks, and an integrity interview by a member of the Arvada Police Department, as well as 40 hours of training when you start. Automatic disqualification for this position includes any history of abuse towards children and any drug use in the past 5 years (including marijuana use- legal or not- in the past 12 months as our organization receives some federal funding). Bilingual skills are strongly preferred though not required.
